NIGERIA DEMOCRACY DAY AND PRESIDENT BUHARI's ONE YEAR IN OFFICE SPEECH, UNINSPIRING... NDYF

30th May, 2016

The Niger Delta Youths Forum (NDYF), A pressure group consisting of Youths across all States in the Niger Delta Region consolidating on the ideals of Major Gen. Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro have classified President's Buhari's Democracy Day's  Speech as Uninspiring & a One year of Wasteful governance & Retrograde for Nigerians.

In a statement signed by the  publicity secretary , Comrade Zinami F Iwariso .

He said ,
First, we must Congratulate Nigerians for celebrating another remarkable day in the growth of our democracy though a stagnation and retrograde in varsity. We also Congratulate President Buhari and other Niger Delta Governors for marking one year in Office as President and Governors. The Buhari Presidency must be applauded for gradually diminishing the effects of Boko Haram in  the North East within this one year even though a great evidence of today is as a result of yesterday's work.

However , we noticed with dismay from the speech of the President on his one year in office that the he basically does not have anything to show for a whole 1 year in office other than mere retheotorics and political gimmicks. Nigeria is the largest black Nation in the world and does not deserve to be a table for political gambles.

It is worthy to mention here that state of the economy is nothing to write home about. The rate at which inflation is affecting prices of goods is alarming , as citizens, we expected to hear from the President on  how he is tackling this menace, rather, in his usual  character since coming into office, he resorted to nagging. It is unfortunate, we just had a one year of wasted governance.

On power and health the President failed to mention anything as it concerns these sectors . One wonders if the President has any plan for these sectors. Or is Nigeria heading to dooms day? Zero power supply was recorded and outbreaks of illnesses involving lives in just one year. So Many times we have wondered what the next 3years holds especially for Niger Delta and its people.

Furthermore , we noted with interest that the President promised to tackle the environmental challenges in Niger Delta region also promising to bring those perpetrating economic sabotage in the region to justice . And we commend the President for this , however, it is disturbing to note that the President made mention of the Niger Delta Avengers and kept mute on the Fulani Herdsmen maiming and killing human beings in the country. "A Biased Justice is worst than Injustice itself -Sam-Michael B". In as much as we are against any form of unlawful activities in the Niger Delta region and the  country generally , we expect Mr President to tackle  all security issues with same measure and not to give some preferential and bias  treatment. You cannot be loudly condemning the Niger Delta Avengers and be silently approving Fulani Herdsmen massacre. This attidude is most hypocritical and totally unacceptable. This is more a silent treason.
The Niger Delta Avengers are not Militants they are Citizens of Nigeria that deserves the protection of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria like any other being deserves. But while hunting for the avengers, we Niger Deltans and members of the Niger Delta Youths Forum want to believe that the Federal Government of Nigeria and its military will not resort into killing, intimidation and harassment of our brothers and sisters in any form (mass battering, mishandling, torture or rape) as any offensive military approach against them is against Niger Delta and the Ijaw Nation. Thus will require an international legal justice in play. The indigenes  of Niger Delta are not criminals, they are creative, productive, intelligent, loveable and peace loving people who are suffering misfortunes of a "Not-Known-Cause" in Nigeria.

Finally , we call on President Muhammadu Buhari to make judicious use of his unused 3years of tenure that it should be left out of prejudice and tribalism so that the  common man can feel the positive impact of his Change Government and build a feeling of belonging as many Nigerians today are living in Neglect in one way or the other. A government that cannot feed his people is like a married man who cannot feed his family which is worst than infidel in the sight of our Most-High-God. To leave for your listening; we the Niger Delta Youths will no Stop airing our distress, views and opinions until we become successes of positive life, not for our personal interests but for the interest of the Ijaw Nation and its people and our future.

Signed:

Zinami Iwariso F.
National Publicity Secretary
