OPOROZA INVASION, A CLEAR CASE OF PURE GENOCIDE: A CALL FOR THE IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL  OF TROOPS.



The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Iduwini Clan Chapter has excoriated  the Nigerian military for the invasion of Oporoza Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area, of Delta State.

We have tolerated enough from this very union called Nigeria since it was sinfully crafted by the colonial masters who left everything in the hands of Northerners. It will be recalled that since the birth of this questionable marriage, it has been one form of oppression or the other. We have suffered too much that we can no longer tolerate any form of intimidation. It has been one form of genocide or the other. Odi, Age, Gbaramatu, Ogodobiri, Olukpobiri etc are all Ijaw towns that have been invaded in the past by successive Nigerian Governments.

What is the crime that the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom has commited?  That there is an invisible and faceless group that identified themselves through tweeter handle and Facebook page claiming to be Niger Delta Avengers who has been responsible in the Vandalisation of Pipelines that have reduced our economy to a lamentable state does not in anyway give our Military the impetus to begin to humiliate, molest, beat and forcefully occupying a community as if is  their base or barrack.

This has to stop, in as much as we condemned the hostilities meted out on our Oil facilities, we do not celebrate or welcome any illegal occupation of our Kingdom by the Nigerian military, we thought the military ought to work with intelligence and not the harassing of our people. Your duty is to protect Oil facilities from the Avengers and bringing them to book and not to invade the Kingdom as if they are at War with the federal Government. This lawlessness must stop now.

We see this as an attempt to cleans the Ijaw ethnic race, otherwise why would we suffer so much for our God given resources. We need development, we need fairness, we need justice, we need peace, we need to see the full kickstarting of our Maritime University, we need to see the fulfilment of President Buhari campaign promises and not this level of impunity and the militarization of Gbaramatu.

There are people that are there ready for war like the Fulani Herdsmen that have been killing, maiming, raping and doing all sorts of evil towards mankind, Boko Haram is still striking silently as the Chibok girls are still missing, the naira is still in a sorry state, people are dying of hunger and starvation under your watch, you should search  and bring the Avengers to book. These are the things we need you to fix and not to creat unnecessary pandemonium in a bid to carry out another genocide.

We implore President Muhammadu Buhari to prepare on his stewardship for the one year he has Governed this Country come may 29th being our democracy day, Gbaramatu and indeed Niger Deltans are at War with no one, is this Government trying to make a statement about how they have achieved so much by conquering us.

Dear President Buhari, please tell your boys to leave us alone in peace and instead search for the Avengers as what the NDA  are doing is having a devastating effect on the people both economically, politically, socially, psychologically and ecologically hence, the Federal Government should not add to our problems instead of bringing sucor.
