THE BOY FROM THE CREEKS
(The State of my nation).
A boy is born in the creeks , grows up without light, water and health care. He schooled under a leaky roof in the rain. He doesn't even get the free routine immunization that is a right to every NIGERIAN child.
Now he he finds out his region produces 2.2-2.5 million barrels of crude daily. And that this oil goes for $50 per barrel.
He does the maths and gets the daily amounts in Naira. Then he looks at what is budgeted for his region for a whole year from amnesty, NDDC and Niger. Delta ministry, and finds out we can raise that within 2 weeks.
Then he hears that we don't own the money and that "our leaders" have embezzled the little FG gives us and that's why we suffer this much.
That doesn't make any sense to him.
He knows the problem is not just what his wicked leaders stole and embezzled.
He takes matters into his hands.
And About his actions and the environmental degradation? He cannot understand you because he has splashed off crude flowing on the surface of the water he bathed and drank all his life!
That crude he drank and had diarrhoea, that wasn't his fault.
He still remembers how his friend died of cholera from drinking this same water and how there was no hospital to help his people that died from drinking shiny water!
Now you ask him "not to destroy his environment"!!!
So inhuman!!!
And we produce these boys from generation to generation.
If you pay this generation off, be ready to pay the next too.
This is a lesson to the Nigerian government - the Niger Delta predicaments, the emergence of War-Lords and the ordeal on Nigeria. Truth is it is in a Cycle and won't end until a significant solution exists.
What could be that powerful solution that can break this cycle?
